Dear Pandemic Mamas:
You gave birth in a global pandemic.
You didn’t get to take your hospital birthing class because it was cancelled.
You gave birth with masks, without your mama, without visitors.
You survived the first few days, weeks, or months without any support besides you and your husband.
You introduced your baby to family in masks, through windows, and on Facetime.
You hadn’t seen friends since March.
You gave up on the Target runs for months in order to keep your baby safe.
You decided to stay home from church, vacations, and hangouts just in case.
You still have so many cute baby outfits for them to wear that no one has seen in person.
Your baby has only seen you and your husband’s face.
There was no rule book. There still isn’t a rule book. You did and are doing what you have to do and what you think is right for your baby. You experienced a lot–if not all–of these things and it is OK to mourn it for a while. But you have grown stronger, wiser, and more grateful because of it. The Lord chose you to be that baby’s mama and He will give you the strength to get through each day during the pandemic and when it is over.
Love,
A Fellow Pandemic Mama
